RumorHeaven: Apple WWDC 2009

WWDC '09 Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is almost here. It will take place June 8th through June 12th in San Francisco. Apple is expected to release a newer version of the iPhone as well as the demonstration of the new Mac OS X 10.6, and hopefully (to the iFans), a Tablet.

iPhone

iPhone OS 3.0 is expected to be announced at WWDC. This has been confirmed a long time ago. Some of the new features in this operating system includes (via Gizmodo):

  • Copy Paste – Finally. Period.
  • Landscape keyboard – Finally. The weirdest thing is that they already have this in Safari, and they just can’t get it to work everywhere else.
  • Video Capture – Finally, evidence of Video editing is also discovered in the SDK.
  • MMS – Finally. Period.
  • A2DP Stereo Bluetooth – Nice feature to have.
  • New Spotlight – Improved search. Nice.
  • 3G Tethering – Don’t think any carrier will approve this.
  • Auto-login in Safari – Wait, it didn’t have this before (I don’t own an iPod Touch/iPhone)
  • Auto-login for Wi-Fi – Wait, it didn’t have this before (I don’t own an iPod Touch/iPhone)
  • Anti-Phishing – Wait, it didn’t have this before (I don’t own an iPod Touch/iPhone)
  • Extended Parental Control –
  • Shake to shuffle –
  • Support for more calendar type – Nice feature to have

iPhone 32GB?Rumor also tells us that a 32 GB iPhone will come out at WWDC. Since there really isn’t anything Apple could improve on hardware wise, bumping up the spec is the only logical thing to do. A faster processor probably will also be included in this new version of the iPhone.

I predict that Apple will release the iPhone 16GB for $199 and 32GB for $299, just like every other news blog out there. I do think that Apple is going to put the 8GB model out there, for $149 or even $99. If that happens, I will most certainly get a iPhone rather than a Pre (assuming that I live in the States).

Snow Leopard

Snow Leopard Just like its name, this new version of the OS X won’t have huge improvements. Apple told us that Snow Leopard is mostly internal code changes, as well as some extra security features etc. Snow Leopard is going to take less space due to the dropping of support the PowerPCs.

There is really not much to say here. I don’t even know why I put this section here.

The Apple “Netbook” Tablet Thingie?

Apple Tablet? The Apple Tablet is buzzing for the past month or so on the internet. As I mentioned in the previous post regarding this issue, it is rumored to come out in 2010. This device with its touch screen QWERTY keyboard, sexy design, may just kill the Kindle, as well as the netbook market. However, Apple is going to set a high price point that no one can afford. And in these troubled times (Drink!), it won’t benefit Apple to have no one buying their product. If I’m looking at a $400 MSI Wind and a $700, $800 Apple Tablet side by side, I’m more willing to pay for the MSI Wind, or even a full powered laptop for the same amount of money as the tablet.

Regardless of its price, iFans will definitely rush out and buy this product, if it ever comes out. I just don’t get why anything Apple invent is always the next big thing. Moreover, we’re probably going to see many other company copy this idea, and come out with a bran new category of computers, the “Netblet”? or the Tapbook?

It is also rumored that this tablet is going to have 3G access (as well as the MacBooks). This means that it may come with a monthly fee (Verizon?), which will bring the price down a bit.

We’re see once June 8th arrives.

Conclusion

This is definitely going to be big. I don’t even know why I’m covering for these stuff since I really just hate Apple. I’ve never owned an Apple product (Don’t give me that look, man). I’m really not excited about any of these. I rather talk about the Sony Walkman X-series touch screen MP3 player rather than all this.
