iPad: The best gadget Apple ever made
Note: For opinion on another point of view on this matter, please check out this article.
This article is a retaliation to UltimateBuster’s article. As the Apple Fanboy, I need to defend my turf.
First off, yes, I am going to buy an iPad. I currently (lease) a MacBook, own an iTouch and a HP Mini. The iPad is the natural middle ground. Why? The iPod is too small to surf the internet on. It’s slow and small. The netbook is a piece of crap (2 hrs. battery life) and the MacBook is too big. The iPad is just right for taking with you and using for quick, or even extended internet browsing. Also, I can play all of my iTouch games full screen!
Apple obviously didn’t release a netbook, because it would have been a piece of crap. Apple just can’t do cheap stuff right (look at all of the problems that the $1000 macbook has). It has pretty much the same specs as a netbook (16 GB SSD, low end processor), just with a touch screen and tons of battery life.
Last, before I finish this, I’m just going to answer two of Ultimatebuster’s questions:
Would it be your computer in the subway?
Yep, if I ever rode a subway, I would love to have my iPad with me! Smart phones are too small and slow.
Would it be your primary computer at home?
Nope, but it would be a major part of my home usage. No need to turn on the desktop for quick questions, just pick up the iPad! When I read books, I have the iBook store! (actually I will probably continue to read carbon based books. I like them better. ), watching movies, or youtube can be more personal.
I will say that I am very disappointed that the iPad does not have flash. It really needs it. I really don’t care about background processing, as there will probably be a jailbreak soon enough. The keyboard is livable, and I probably won’t be getting the keyboard accessory. The iPad is like iTouch’s bigger brother, you know, the awesome one. Now, if only they changed the name.
Who do you agree with? Comment!

I kind of agree with this article, except that Flash is an annoyance rather than something useful in 90% of all cases. A Flash blocker for iPad Safari were really nice, I love this extension on the Mac OS Safari (ClickToFlash, and Flash on the iPad would need some TouchToFlash). And a MacBook is in many ways better than a netbook. A large, quality LED screen, a multi-touch touchpad, an awesome OS, a DVD drive, and a keyboard of a reasonable size sure make the MacBook a winner for portable computing. (For smaller things, like checking Twitter, a netbook might be enough, just let’s hope it runs something that’s not Windows.)
I also see ultimatebuster’s point about the specs, and I agree a lower-spec device should be cheaper. But an important point is also the definition of high and low specs. For the iPhone OS, a first-gen iPhone is the lowest spec device, and the iPad is the highest spec device. The iPhone Os runs perfectly on hardware, which would never be enough for Windows running equally fast and smooth.
@KsbjA
And again, Windows is not designed for such low powered device.
@ultimatebuster let me introduce you to my friend, Windows 95.
Well, I was prepared for Apple to release something $800-1500. If you think about it, $500 is pretty good for that price, especially when you consider the touchscreen, battery, and the cost to design (which probably wasn’t cheap)
@Patman
They have windows 95 now?!
